Women With A Cause (WWAC)
Scholar Program

Women With a Cause supports single mothers as they navigate life and pursue career paths that break the cycle of poverty, resulting in self-sufficiency for life.

We accomplish this through our 5 primary growth points:

  1. Educational paths resulting in life-long, livable wage careers

  2. Financial literacy classes that result in sound financial decision-making

  3. One-on-one mentoring/coaching resulting in increased self-awareness and personal responsibility

  4. Individual and/or family therapy that brings deep healing

  5. Parenting and life skills training that launches the next generation into great futures

Meet Our Scholars

Yvette is a mother of three. She has already overcome a lot in her life, including being a teen parent. She came to BeyondHome from one of our partners, Hope House. Counseling with a BeyondHome therapist is helping Yvette gain skills and receive support as she processes previous trauma and life as a single mom.

Yvette is very focused and motivated. She has no outstanding debt and is excited about setting herself up for success with the opportunities being offered through BH and the WWAC Scholar Program. She was in college even before she was accepted into the BH program. Currently at Front Range Community College, Yvette is pursuing her Secondary Education Degree to teach Spanish at an alternative high school. She is on schedule with her goals.

Latrice

Yvette

Angel maintained a 4.0 GPA and just graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Communications from MSU Denver! As a student, she was selected by the dean of her program to be the 2021-2022 Outstanding Student in the College of Letters, Arts & Sciences. She is very proud of her achievement, and we are proud of her!

Angel also continues to meet with a parenting coach. Implementing these new skills has greatly improved her relationship with her older daughter who is doing well in school and is also working a part-time job.

Angel

Latrice is on the home stretch of her bachelor's degree in accounting with a minor in Spanish. Exciting news! Latrice will be studying abroad in Spain this summer and will receive college credit for this adventure! Her children will be spending the summer with grandma in Texas. Latrice currently has a 3.4 GPA and will graduate in December.

Latrice reports that counseling through BeyondHome "has given me additional tools for coping, processing emotions, and making better choices." She also has been working with our parenting coach and states she has learned self-regulation which has improved her ability to care for her children.
